It is important that company uses an adequate model when assessing the employee motivation in order to reach its optimum performance. The Model of Motivation Book (MOTIBOO) is a part of the knowledge of motivation models and can provide company with valuable information. Although there have been employee motivation recently developed for use with job characteristic, the most commonly model with this population is the MOTIBOO, which is standardized on normally company. In order to further explore the importance of employee motivation model, a test on MOTIBOO should be conducted.

The objective of the present study was to determine whether MOTIBOO Model could effectively affect employee motivation. This study also sought to answer the following questions: 1) What is the correlation between the improvement of MOTIBO Model and employee motivation? and 2) Is there a difference between pre-post test control and experiment of employee motivation?

Sixty employees were selected from Lembaga Pengembangan Perbankan Indonesia as subjects. Thirty employees were categorized as experiments and received three selected books that should be read. The rest of them were defined as controls without the obligations to read the books.

T-test was computed to determine if a difference exist between the performance of pre and post-test data for groups of experiment and control.  A highly significant difference was found between the computed t and t on a statistic table of pre and post-test for groups of experiment and control.  The group of experiments scored higher than the groups of controls either on the pre-test or post test. These results are consistent with the previous research showing that employee who implemented MOTIBOO Model had higher motivation than they were without MOTIBOO Model.

As stated from literatures, these finding clearly emphasizes the need for motivation models to ensure the performances of employees. Items that point to discretion should be taken out. Furthermore, outcomes of employee motivation and performance can be more successful by combining a motivation model with other tools for employment.
